Gentle chest vibrations during mindfulness boost body awareness in trauma

2 June 2026

A new study reports that adding soft, sternal vibrations to brief mindfulness sessions improved body awareness and shifted brain connectivity in adults with trauma-related symptoms—hinting at a low-cost, noninvasive bridge back to the felt sense of self.

Breath, heartbeat, and the subtle tides of sensation have long been the quiet guides of inner life. Now, researchers report that adding gentle vibration over the breastbone to brief mindfulness training can help people with trauma-related symptoms tune back into those signals. In a randomized intervention of 116 trauma-exposed adults diagnosed with PTSD and elevated dissociation, volunteers completed eight short mindfulness sessions. Some received vibration—either paced to the breath or delivered as steady pulses—via a small transducer placed near the sternum. According to Emory University’s report in the Emory University News Center, this simple addition changed both subjective experience and the brain’s wiring.

MRI scans taken before and after the sessions revealed increases in neurite density—an indicator of white-matter microstructure—in pathways linked with sensing and integrating internal bodily signals, a capacity known as interoception. The changes appeared in tracts such as the corticospinal pathway and the cerebral peduncle. Participants who received vibration also reported better interoceptive awareness and related clinical improvements. The interim results, published May 16, 2026, in Neuropsychopharmacology, suggest a low-cost, noninvasive way to support reconnection with the body, a goal shared by many contemplative and therapeutic traditions.

There is a spiritual resonance here that doesn’t overstep the science: a gentle, rhythmic cue layered onto breath becomes a kind of tuning fork for attention. Interoception is where intuition often first whispers—tightness in the chest, a flutter in the gut, a softening when something feels right. By subtly amplifying the body’s inner metronome, vibration may make those whispers easier to notice without claiming to replace therapy or offer certainty. The work, funded by the NIH’s National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (about $3.6 million) and conducted in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh, reflects a meeting place between careful measurement and the longstanding human search for felt presence.

As the team plans six-month follow-ups to test how durable these brain and symptom changes might be, a wider invitation emerges: to relate to consciousness not only as something that thinks, but as something that senses. The study’s approach is grounded and modest—brief sessions, small devices, observable neural markers—yet it points toward a mystery practitioners have explored for centuries: that attention, anchored in the body, can open a clearer channel to experience. No single practice is a cure-all, and personal journeys vary. Still, the findings offer a practical reminder that beneath thought, the body keeps time—and that learning to listen could be part of finding our way home.

Pet Psychic News Story – Pet Psychic Finds Lost Dog

A new story about how a pet psychic was able to find a lost dog is the latest phenomenon to hit the supernatural and psychic circle. Jaime Kalkowski lives in Springfield and always has her dog beside her. She treats her dog as her only child and has since been distraught since he has gone missing. Her hopes have been lifted by a pet psychic who said that her dog is still alive.
Sharon Pugh is a psychic medium from Georgia. She claims she is able to detect a lost dog’s energy and locate where the pet exactly is. She has given Jaime hopes that her psychic abilities will be able to help locate the dog. Sharon specializes in phone psychic readings.

KETV I reports that there is an abundance of pet psychics. The Internet is flooded with such ads promoting pet psychics and the Animal Planet has wholeheartedly embraced the existence of such an industry.

Plugh intimates that she uses her psychic abilities to locate lost pets. However she cannot guarantee that any lost pet can be located because she is limited only by the spirit that passes through her during a psychic session. She further says that the information she can give a pet owner is bound with what God, the Guardian Angels and her Spirit Guides allow her to give. These are the information her psychic abilities allow her to receive.

When asked about the situation of Jaime’s pet, Plugh’s psychic abilities reveal that the dog plunged into a body of water and was recovered by someone in a military uniform. She further reveals that the dog is still alive. This prediction has given Jaime a lot of hope of finally recovering her pet as she has already spent a fortune trying to locate her “child.”
